Dr David Warburton
Chief Executive, Auckland Transport

 David Warburton is the Chief Executive of Auckland Transport.  He has extensive senior management experience leading large organisations in New Zealand and Australia. Most recently this includes chief executive of CPG (part of Downer EDI), and chief executive of Wanganui District Council.  He holds a doctorate in environmental engineering from Massey University where he has also held senior lecturer positions and was an Associate Professor and Research Fellow at the University of Illinois (US).

 

Skye Duncan
Global Designing Cities Director, NACTO

Skye Duncan is the Global Designing Cities Director at National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO).  Skye is also Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University in the City of New York.  Originally from New Zealand, Skye is leading the new Global Designing Cities Initiative in partnership with NACTO, a multi-year programme that will develop a Global Street Design Guide and work with cities on street and public space design around the world as part of the Bloomberg Global Road Safety Partnership. 

Dr Lester Levy
Chair, Auckland Transport Board

Dr Lester Levy is Chair of the Auckland Transport Board.  Lester is also Chair of the Auckland and Waitemata District Health Boards, as well as Adjunct Professor of Leadership at the University of Auckland Business School and a director of Tonkin & Taylor.  He has previous governance experience chairing private healthcare, film and television production and biotechnology enterprises.  He is a graduate of Medicine, an MBA, a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management, and has previously been awarded the prestigious King’s Fund International Fellowship.

 

Dr Dean Peterson
Group Manager, National Technology
Networks, Callaghan Innovation

Dr Dean Peterson is Group Manager - National Technology Networks at Callaghan Innovation. Callaghan Innovation is a government agency supporting hi-tech businesses in NZ, providing a single front door to the innovation system for businesses at all stages of their innovation journey – from start-ups to the most experienced R&D performers.  Callaghan Innovation is a mix of about 300 researchers, engineers, scientists, technologists, designers, entrepreneurs, advisors and administrators.

Ernst Zöllner
Director Auckland Northland & Director Road Safety, NZ Transport Agency

Ernst Zöllner is Director Auckland & Northland and Director Road Safety at NZ Transport Agency. Ernst is responsible for ensuring there is strong alignment (as well as successful delivery) against aspirational transport goals for the areas. This includes bringing about stronger alignment between central and local government transport objectives, and clarifying the long term development intent for road and rail transport connections between Northland and the rest of NZ. Based in Auckland, Ernst was previously in Wellington as NZTA’s Director Road Safety.

Oscar Peppitt
General Manager, Uber

Oscar joined Uber in 2012 to launch operations in Sydney, Uber's 12th city. Today, Uber is in more than 300 markets, and they're only just getting started. Prior to Uber, Oscar was establishing or consulting to startup ventures, focusing on sustainability based business models. At Uber, Oscar has been responsible for establishing the Australian market, as well as growing and training the marketing team in Australia and Asia, which is now Uber's largest market. Oscar is currently General Manager for New Zealand and oversees Wellington and Auckland operations.

Michael Frawley
Chief Executive Officer, MOTAT

Michael Frawley is the Chief Executive Officer of the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT).  Michael’s position is a leadership role which oversees the operation of the Museum on a day-to-day basis, establishing a strong vision, values and strategy to guide the Museum’s operation, building and strengthening partnerships with other organisations, businesses and community groups, and undertake actions to continuously improve the visitor experience.

Peter Clark
Chief Strategy Officer, Auckland Transport

Pete Clark is the Chief Strategy Officer at Auckland Transport, having held similar roles at the Auckland Regional Transport Authority and Cape Town City Council.  Pete oversees the strategic planning of programmes within Auckland Transport, and works closely at a high level with NZTA, Auckland Council and Central Government.

Greg Edmonds
Chief Infrastructure Officer,
Auckland Transport

Greg Edmonds is the Chief Infrastructure Officer at Auckland Transport and is responsible for delivering the capital programme.  Greg previously held a similar role for the operational division of AT so has a huge understanding of and influence over the transport issues within the Auckland region.

Jim Quinn
Chief of Strategy, Auckland Council

Jim Quinn is Chief of Strategy at Auckland Council. Jim is also director of a number of important companies such as Lyttelton Port and Go Bus and was previously the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of KiwiRail.  Jim has held management roles with New Zealand Post, Advantage Group, WEL Energy, QED Software and New Zealand Couriers.

 

Steve Appleby
BIM Practice Lead, AECOM

Steve Appleby is the BIM (Building Information Modelling) Practice Lead, Australia and New Zealand at AECOM in Australia and New Zealand.  Steve is a leading figure on this emerging technology and works closely with key clients advising them on procurement of BIM services and implementation processes at project and enterprise level, to fully realise the benefits of BIM across the construction value chain.

Patrick Reynolds
Auckland photographer and writer

Patrick Reynolds is an Auckland photographer and writer, specialising in architecture, transport and urban design, and a member of Auckland Transport Blog.  Patrick teaches at School of Architecture and Planning, University of Auckland. An eloquent and provocative speaker, he regularly blogs thought-provoking pieces on a range of transport matters. 

Richard Paling
Transportation Consultant

Richard Paling is a transport planner and economist with international expertise in the development and assessment of schemes and projects over a period of more than 30 years.  Richard has worked on projects covering almost the entire range of modes within the transport sector including roads, railways and public transport, ports and shipping and walking and cycling.  Richard has developed a particular expertise in the use of multi-criteria assessment frameworks, working with agencies such as NZTA, MoT and Auckland Transport.

Martin Matthews
Transport Secretary, CE Ministry of Transport

Martin Matthews is the Secretary for Transport and the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Transport. He has held this position since September 2008.  The Ministry’s purpose is to ensure our transport system helps New Zealand thrive. The Ministry is a team of approximately 150 people advising on policy and regulatory settings, and revenue and expenditure of over $4 billion per annum. Martin was previously the Chief Executive of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.  Prior to this Martin was Assistant Auditor-General.

Steven Burgess
Principal Consultant at MRCagney

Steven Burgess is Principal Consultant (Placemaking) at MRCagney. Steven is an engineer and urban strategist with an extensive mix of public and private sector experience. He has managed a range of projects in the transport and urban redevelopment sectors for more than 20 years, and was formerly a Principal (Placemaking) with Parsons Brinckerhoff. Steven has undertaken extensive work on the long-term relationships between urban form, transport, parking and vitality.
